Who - What - Why

I thought my first post should explain who I am, what I am doing and why.

My name is Bill Baker. I am a network engineer and frustrated political junkie. I have been listening to politics /politicians for years as kind of a hobby. I know, I have a strange hobby. I am very outspoken and will tell anyone willing to listen the way I would do things. I spent many years in the military and have worked as an instructor (teaching people how to make microchips), Process control engineer (working on rubber, plastic and paper systems ), and network engineer/network architect/network security, etc. I all my jobs, I have told my bosses that if they want an honest opinion, ask me. Just be prepared for the answer! If I don't like something, I will tell you. I pull no punches and am not always politically correct. I don't suffer fools lightly. I love pointing out the absurd, and hypocritical in politics. If I don't like the way someone is doing something, I tell them how I would do it -the right way!

What I hope to achieve and why. When I was an instructor in the military I would tell my students, "if you don't like the way something is done, tell me how you would do it". That is how I have enjoyed my politics. The biggest thing I want people to do is THINK FOR THEMSELVES! Don't be a sheep! It is okay to admit you are wrong. It is okay to change your mind after you have more facts. It is okay to be the only one going the other way; as long as you believe you are correct!

For many years I have written my opinions and sent them to the local paper (Star Beacon -Ashtabula Ohio). Some get published and most don't. I also give my opinions on a few websites. I have been told for many years, by my lovely wife, that I should put all my rantings in a book and have it published. I send many of my rantings to other people I know who say the same thing.

I was recently reading one of my rantings to a colleague and he mentioned doing a blog. What the heck; At least I will have all my rantings in the same place. If you enjoy them great. If you don't like them fine. If you think I am all wrong tell me where and how to fix it. Remember to be respectful of my opinions and I will be respectful of yours. The biggest thing I want is to get you thinking for yourself.
