Did you get an invitation?

The Democrats have come out with their “healthcare reform” bill. 1990 pages that none of the people voting on it will read at a cost to you, me and my children of only $1.055Trillion. Did you get your invitation to the unveiling ceremony? Neither did I. Of course, I am not a union member, or hill staffer. I would have liked to know about it, but the bill was done behind closed doors, not on C-SPAN as promised (one of the many that have been broken). The unveiling was also a closed ceremony. Seems they didn’t want anyone with a dissenting opinion there. They even denied a GOP Congressman admittance.

I have a couple of questions. If the plan is so good, why not have it start as of 2010 or 2011? Why wait till 2013? If this is going to be deficit neutral, why do they need to collect taxes to pay for it before it is enacted? If it doesn’t take effect till 2013, what is the rush to get it done NOW! Why not make it transparent and let people discuss it? Can it not stand on its own merits?

When I was young, if I did, or was doing something I shouldn’t I would try to hide it from my parents. I didn’t want them to know what or to what extent. Doesn’t this seem like what the Democrats are doing with healthcare? If it is the right thing to do, it should be able to stand up to scrutiny. If it can’t, it is time to rethink it. In this case, doing something is not better than doing nothing.
